This is part of a series of summaries of the routes in Uta no Prince-sama All Star After Secret. Heavy spoilers for the game and all previous Utapri games ahoy!
Today’s covers Aijima Cecil’s route. Starish each has one route with two endings. Note that the routes seem to take place after Debut and not after Rainbow Route in All Star. Both Rainbow Route endings are considered True Love endings, but A is the one you get when your love or music meter is below 80%.
My Japanese is limited, so apologies if I misunderstood anything. If I got something wrong, please feel free to tell me.
Warning: long post ahead! Line breaks correspond with the end of a chapter.
Haruka finishes work for the day at the agency. She’s 18 and has been working on various BGM. But today she’s going to also going to give a new composition to her boyfriend and partner. She has to hurry home but hears voices. She opens the door, and Syo is yelling at Natsuki. He says it was unfair to face Natsuki in a bread eating contest. Natsuki doesn’t understand why. Otoya is trying to calm Syo down. Masato points out that it didn’t matter about the bread if Syo can’t answer the quiz questions. Otoya says he had to go back to start five times because it was so difficult. Tokiya says it’s because Otoya took off before hearing the whole question. Ren remarks Tokiya skipped the bread race because it seemed too difficult. Cecil claims it’s because Tokiya hates high calorie bread, but Tokiya denies it.
Haruka thinks back on how she debuted because of Starish’s support. (The group isn’t called Starish here, but I’m going to.) Otoya and Syo notice Haruka and invite her inside. Natsuki says they all were at the same location today. The others mention they have been working together a lot. In fact, Ren explains, they were on a sports variety show, divided into three teams. Team 1 was Masato and Natsuki. Team 2 was Tokiya, Syo, and Cecil. Team 3 was Ren and Otoya. Ren asks Haruka which team she thinks won.
Haruka says Team 2. Tokiya is smart, Syo has the athletic abilities, and Cecil is good at encouraging people. Syo was excited, and says he got lucky on the questions. Cecil says he’s also lucky. Syo asks about Cecil’s injury from falling down, but Cecil says it’s no problem. He’s just glad he got the answer right. Tokiya is like, you didn’t know the answer?! Cecil’s like nope, just a guess. Tokiya is amazed.
Haruka is happy they’re getting so popular. She thinks about how different it is from when she was alone and couldn’t debut. Starish points out that it’s thanks to her and her songs. They decide to head home, and Syo assures Haruka he’ll defeat any bad guys that people. Cecil asks Haruka to keep making wonderful music.
Haruka is at the cafe, and Tomo rushes in, apologizing. They haven’t seen each other in a while because of their work. They split some cake and chat. Tomo asks how Haruka and her boyfriend are doing. Haruka starts panicking. Tomo asks if she’s bashful, and Haruka says it’s a little embarrassing. Tomo laughs and wishes for her excitement. She passes it off as a joke, saying it’s impossible for an idol. Haruka thinks about how her love life is a secret, but Tomo tells her she knows Haruka and her boyfriend are serious. Tomo then pulls out a magazine from Starish’s event yesterday and gives it to Haruka. She knows Haruka will want to read the interviews. They part, promising to keep in contact and go out again. She then goes to read her boyfriend’s interview.
Haruka steps out onto the veranda in the morning to enjoy the nice weather. She gets a text from Cecil saying the weather is so nice, he can’t help wanting to see her now. They promised to go out today since they both have the day off. She sends a reply saying she’s not ready yet. Cecil calls before she has a chance to get dressed. There’s no need for her to apologize; he just woke up too early because he was so excited. Cecil will go for a walk and enjoy thinking about her. It’s okay if she arrives at their pre-arranged time. He’s got a fun day planned. And don’t fall, okay? Haruka hangs up and goes to her closet.
Haruka arrives at the park. He tells her she looks fantastic. She says he also looks nice. They’ve both been looking forward to today. He’ll show her to a special place. He grabs her hand.
Cecil finally leads her to a particular bench. It’s the most optimal place to enjoy the sunshine. He lays his handkerchief down so she can sit. It’s warm, and Haruka giggles as he stretches like a cat. Cecil apologizes for not being able to take her out more because he’s an idol. She replies she’s happy just meeting between work. He’ll work even harder as an idol. He’s only been working as an idol to make her smile. Haruka has been watching him carefully and has seen how much effort he’s been putting into his work. He even is a regular on a TV program where he does challenges like sports and skydiving. Cecil wants to know what kind of challenge she wants to see him do. If she says fishing, he freaks out because of a horrible memory. If she says cooking, he mentions he’s been practicing making Japanese food like kappamaki and onigiri. But she says a magic challenge. She realizes he’s been using real magic, and he admits he shouldn’t in case he’s exposed. So they try to think of something. He likes spreading his wings for his fans, as they give him courage. He enjoyed singing when he was younger but never thought about being an idol. But now he’s found love, and he’s also discovered the pleasure of being an idol. Haruka replies he’s kind for thinking about others so much. She wants to work harder, too. He takes her hand and tells her how he always wants to sing her songs. He declares he loves her and kisses her fingers and hand. Worried about being spotted, she says no. Cecil doesn’t understand what’s wrong. She tries to explain and then insists on taking him to her favorite place.
They reach the steps to a shrine. She’s so happy to be with Cecil that her heart keeps pounding. Haruka explains she comes here when she’s worried about a composition. She runs up the steps, and Cecil is afraid she’ll fall. When she’s almost at the top, she turns around. He asks her to look at him before they get there. She does and sees an expression that makes her heart speed up. “Can we kiss?” he asks. Haruka is taken aback, and Cecil shyly repeats his request. No? She wants to know why here. Why does he need a reason to kiss her? She’s cute. She’s precious. So he wants to kiss. Is that wrong? Haruka says outside is no. Cecil scowls. Haruka wants to give in but doesn’t. She says they should enjoy being outside for now. He finally agrees. Afterwards, Cecil hasn’t been holding her hand and is silent. She worries she may have overreacted earlier. She draws closer to ask him, and he sneaks in a kiss on her cheek. He proudly proclaims he held back from kissing her on the lips, so there’s no problem. Haruka sighs. Cecil wants to touch her more and more because he loves her. His lips move from her cheek to whisper in her ear. She doesn’t move. He’s going to cause more trouble for her, he sweetly says. He kisses her ear. Haruka tries to protest. Cecil wants to hear from her own mouth why she isn’t running away. It’s because she loves him. He laughs and apologizes for teasing her.
They reach the shrine. No one else is around. Cecil wonders if she is currently worried about a composition. No, she just wanted to come here. But she is thinking of Cecil’s new song. She asks what kind of song he wants. He replies a song of love. He wants to spread love to his fans and TV viewers. And his love for Haruka. He’s been saved by her numerous times and was always on his side. He wouldn’t be here now if it weren’t for her. She gave him love, and that is true happiness. He wishes to share this feeling. That’s the kind of song he wants. She’ll work hard to fulfill his request. They both have the same idea now: to go work on the song. After praying, they leave.
Haruka and Cecil return to her room. This will be hard. Cecil just wants to convey love and smiles. He knows she can create such a song. Just let their feelings of love become one. She lets the music flow. He doesn’t say a word. She thinks he didn’t like it, but he blurts out it was so good, his voice wouldn’t come out. Cecil hugs her. He loves her music. This song will be the first step to the new idol him. She’ll accept the challenge. Haruka goes to continue her work, but Cecil stops her. Her job for the rest of the day is to spend time with him as his lover. He’s held back all this time, so can he spoil her now? Yes. He buries his head in her shoulder. He asks if he should be choosing between music, work, and her. She’s the same. Haruka wants to do her best at work, but she can be lonely at times, too. Cecil is happy to hear her feelings. He kisses her forehead and wants to kiss her lips. She closes her eyes as he does so. He remarks how much more different she is now compared to when they were outside. He likes the honest her. Now Cecil wants to have her say she loves him. Embarrassed, she does so. No matter how many times Haruka says those words, he’s always so happy. He embraces her again, and they spend the rest of the evening as lovers.
Haruka is working on BGM for a drama. She and Cecil have been texting each other since his last day off. It’s a rainy day. She doesn’t know which one to work on. She decides to watch Cecil’s program. She sees a show with Camus and Cecil.
Cecil and Camus are dressed in kimono. It’s some kind of period piece about defeating a monster.
Haruka receives a text from Cecil. They can’t go out on location for filming today, so can he see her today? She wants to see him.
Haruka heads to the studio. She can hear voices, and it’s Cecil and Camus. Camus is scorning Cecil’s lack of improvement. Haruka interrupts, and Camus is not thrilled about seeing her here. Cecil admits he invited her here, and his senpai declares he’s making more trouble. Haruka is worried and confused. Camus declares Cecil needs to study more. He needs to know the kanji in the script. Cecil tries to explain himself, but Camus doesn’t want excuses. He walks off. Haruka apologizes for coming, but Cecil replies it’s not her fault. Haruka looks at the script. Even she doesn’t know some of the words. He’s depressed; he’s already asked the staff so many questions. She tries to reassure him. Asking so many questions is proof he cares. Cecil replies just being with her makes him feel better. He suggests they head home. Haruka hesitates, but he insists.
They go to Haruka’s. He’s staring at her just because she’s cute. But he recognizes something’s up. She’s acting a little unusual. He knows not because of magic but because he loves her. Haruka confesses she’s worried how Cecil will view the song. She wants it to show his full strength without burdening him. He believes in her, and she should rely on him more. Talking with him lessens her worries. Cecil tells her to play. It’s their important time together, she protests. He doesn’t care; it’s what her heart is telling her. She sits at the piano as Cecil watches over her. Haruka works on the piece, and then she plays it for him. She turns to Cecil for his reaction. “Excellent!” He repeatedly shakes her hand in excitement. But he wants an even more special song. They’ll talk about how to improve it.
With Cecil’s advice, she’s getting closer to the final image. He’s glad to help. She notices his script. He says she can look at it, but he’s embarrassed at how much he can’t read. It’s full of his notes. He’s really been working hard. No, he’s going to work harder, he declares. He’s grateful so many people have helped him with Japanese. He wants to truly convey his feelings, so he’ll study Japanese more. Haruka is impressed. He loves Japan since it’s such a wondrous country. Like all the names of the food. Kappamaki, Kitsuneudon, and tanukisoba all sounded so frightening! (The beginning of all three words sound like names of creatures, so he misunderstood.) Cecil really has studied. For her sake, he wants to be a man that can do anything and can save her. His words touch her.
A few days later, things still aren’t going well with the song. And the song is affecting her ability to work on BGM.
Another day means another day of no improvement. She hasn’t seen Cecil, but he has texted her. He’s so kind, but she wonders what should she do. Cecil then calls. She lies and says she’s fine. The staff complimented on Cecil’s perfect Japanese today. Even Camus didn’t scold him. After all this work on location, he managed to get a day off three days from now. He wants to spend it with Haruka. She accepts. She thinks to herself she must work hard to get the day off. He mentions he was worried since they can’t go out for a date. She’s looking forward to it regardless.
Three days later, Haruka is excited. She has prepared cake.
She goes over to Cecil’s. They sit on the sofa together. He’s so glad to finally see her. Just being together is happiness, not to mention the joy he gets from being an idol. He came here as a cat and didn’t know anyone until Haruka saved him. He suddenly lays down his head on her lap. He wants to be spoiled as a reward for working so hard. Haruka replies he’s already being spoiled. He giggles. Today’s selfishness is him hogging her lap all to himself. Then he tells here in a serious tone she should let herself be spoiled and not hold back. He’ll take on half of her troubles, and all of them if she can’t handle them. Cecil just wants Haruka to be happy. She thanks him. If she pecks him on the cheek he goes “nya!”/”meow!” and wonders if he should be more tsuntsun. If she holds her hand, he mentions she’s warm. But she strokes his head. He mentions it feels like he’s gone back to being Kuppuru. He meows and says he wouldn’t mind going back to being a cat if they could be like this. Haruka tells him to remain as he is and she’ll spoil him. Haruka states he’s given her a lot of happiness. Cecil taught her the joy of music, so she wants to return the favor. Well, she taught him the joy of loving someone, so he wants to return that feeling. They talk about the days they spent apart and the day passes by slowly.
After her day with Cecil, Haruka has managed to create the BGM. She’s turning it in. The producer seems to like it. She’s glad. But he mentions it lacks impact, so it hopes she’ll fix it. She tells herself she must do better.
She’s continuing her work on the song in the recording room.
Haruka doesn’t even know how long she’s been in there when Cecil surprises her. Work ended early. He heard she was here doing work and thought maybe she was still here. She stops the BGM. Isn’t he tired? He’d be lying if he wasn’t, but he wanted to see her. She also wanted to see him. Cecil figures she’s depressed again. He also correctly guesses she’s hiding something. He also deduces it’s not his song she was working on. Haruka finally admits it. Cecil scolds her for hiding something from him. He wants her to tell him everything. He kisses her fingers. She explains about the BGM. He also has worries. He’s going to tell a story.
He was born a prince and thought he would live as a prince. He had to serve Muse and so couldn’t dedicate all of himself to his country. And even though there were difficult times, he felt he could handle it. He’s grateful to his parents for raising him. She wants to hear more. His everyday life? It was fairly normal, studying and eating home cooking with happy and sad times. Sad times? Even now, he’s scared of water. Haruka requests a happy memory. Cecil replies his birthday. The celebration lasted for a week, including a three day carnival. The whole country enjoyed it. He wants to do the same for her. Haruka protests one day is enough. He wants to do his best as both a prince and idol. If Cecil doesn’t have confidence, it will show in his performance. When he needs power, he believes. She hadn’t thought of it that way. She’s got Muse on her side and him as well. She feels her worries lessening. Cecil again requests she rely on him more. He doesn’t want to see her suffering. He gives her a hug. He’s going to cast a spell to make her feel better. He kisses her cheek. She smiles. His magic is working.
Today, she’s resubmitting her music for the drama. She plays the song, and the producer is thrilled with her finished work. But before he leaves, she wants him to hear another song. He’s stunned. She thinks this means it’s terrible, but it’s the opposite. He’ll take both pieces.
A few days later, she gets a call. The new piece inspired them to create a new scene for the drama. She’s ecstatic. Now she feels revived and works on Cecil’s composition. Night falls. It’s done. She put all the sides of Cecil into it. She calls Cecil and he comes over. She drags him over to the piano. He’s glad to see her so energetic. He feels the love from his Muse. He kisses her cheek as a blessing.
Fantastic! He thinks it’s a wonderful melody. It’s because Cecil believed in her. She thanks him. Cecil says it’s his turn now to work hard to create the lyrics. The song is so wonderful, he’s a little nervous. Then she’ll believe in Cecil. It’s time to show his Japanese skills. She offers to help, but he wants her to just watch over him. Haruka is looking forward to the lyrics. She asks about his writing. He studied the basics of Japanese in his homeland, but it wasn’t until he came here that he really learned it. But before he begins, he requests some of the energy of happiness from her. Haruka is a little lost but agrees. Cecil pulls her in for an embrace. It’s not enough. He wants to know what they should do. She wants to kiss but immediately tells him to forget. He can’t and wants to take her up on her request. If she doesn’t say where, Cecil’s going to kiss her lips. She blurts out the forehead. Haruka mentions it feels like she’s the one getting power. He replies it’s fine; seeing her cheerful is the number one source of power for him. Cecil is now recharged. He’ll sing a song overflowing with love, one that vows of his love for her. No matter what kind of lyrics he writes, it’ll go with the song. And a few days later, she hears they’re finished. The song will premiere on TV.
Haruka is at the studio. Today is the premiere. It’s a big opportunity.
She goes backstage. She’s nervous. Cecil calls out to Haruka. He’s dressed like a prince from Arabian Nights. She stammers out a “good luck”, and he notes her nervousness. He knows in times of nervousness, one is supposed to trace “hito” (person) with your finger on the other hand and swallow it. He writes it for her. She’s fine and is looking forward to the show. He’s written proper lyrics because she believed in him. He goes out on stage.
Cecil is going to be first on the program. The crowd cheers. He greets the audience. He hears their voices and feels their love. Now he’s going to give them his love. He wishes for their happiness. Then Cecil performs “Happiness“.
True Love Ending A:
Cecil sparkles in the spotlight. His feelings are properly conveyed to Haruka. He tells the audience he’s very happy right now. They cheer for his gentle voice and performance. Haruka feels like she’s in a dream. The other artists perform their songs.
Cecil texts Haruka after the show is over. He can’t leave together with her.
A few days later, she still hasn’t met with him. She can’t stop thinking about him and his performance. The key phrase of “happiness” keeps repeating in her mind. She’s lonely.
The next day, she goes to the agency to meet Cecil. She found out yesterday he suddenly got a day off. She’s excited, but she doesn’t know why they’re meeting at the agency. She hears something and goes to open the door. Hand on the doorknob, Cecil yells that opening the door is dangerous right now. It’s too late, and tons of presents come crashing through. Panicking, Cecil asks if she’s okay. She is. He’s been getting tons of gifts every day since the song aired. He wants to accept the fans’ feelings, but there’s so many that he’s half happy and half troubled. Haruka suggests he take a break, but Cecil wants to be with her. Camus suddenly appears telling Cecil to clear the way. Camus continues: “Not having time off is a poor excuse. Use your time wisely, cat.” Cecil agrees, much to Camus’s shock. Even Haruka is a bit surprised. Camus wonders if Haruka changed Cecil. She protests but Cecil replies yes. Camus states Cecil’s song wasn’t bad. It’s now Cecil’s turn to be surprised. He can’t believe Camus even listened to his song. Camus coolly replies he just went to verify something. Cecil still thinks his senpai ate something bad or has a curse on him. Camus gets angry. Cecil apologizes and thanks him. Camus declares he wasn’t praising Cecil, but Cecil is happy Camus even listened to the performance. Camus leaves. Cecil tries to chase after him but Camus rebukes him.
Haruka and Cecil walk home. It’s now night.
They go to his room. The two sit on the sofa. Cecil is enjoying the peace so they can fully feel their heartbeats. He pulls her into his arms. Haruka says she received his feelings in the song. He replies that being this close feels like they’re exposing everything to each other. Cecil still has much more love for her to receive. She closes her eyes. He wonders if she’s sleepy. Haruka can’t quite put her feelings into words. She falls asleep.
She awakens the next morning. She looks over and is taken aback. She’s in Cecil’s arms. Haruka tries to escape but he pulls her back. He tells her good morning and kisses her cheek. Cecil explains she feel asleep in his arms. He got to watch both the moments she fell asleep and woke up. He kisses her hair and then her lips. He wonders if she’s upset they slept in the same bed. She doesn’t remember anything? No, sorry. He kisses her lips and then her ears. She notes he’s much more forceful than usual. Just like the song, Cecil wants to bloom by her hand. He holds her hand. He kisses her all over her face and asks if she feels his overflowing love. He wants to leave more marks of his love all over. She tries to protest, but he wants to be more of an adult. Her head is spinning. He wants to know her feelings. Haruka confesses she wants to talk to him more openly about her love for him. Cecil tells her to let her feelings satiate the desert of his heart. He needs her in order to live. She thinks about how she always wants to be with him. The two bask in their feelings for each other.
True Love Ending B:
The crowd and even the staff applaud. He thanks everyone. He asks if they have received his love. They cheer.
After the show, Haruka hopes to meet with Cecil. She is lead to Cecil’s dressing room.
She notices a lot of presents from fans as she knocks on the door. Cecil is happy to see her. Haruka praises the performance. He’s glad he put his body and soul into it. Her melody caused the words to overflow. He’s probably never been so happy. Just when Haruka is about to invite him out, a staff member comes along and says the news coverage (interview) is going to start. Cecil apologizes, but his schedule is packed right now. Just before she leaves, he hugs her and promises to see her when things calm down. She promises to wait.
The next day, Haruka finds a lot of coverage about Cecil on TV.
Haruka finishes a meeting with the drama producer. Cecil’s been very busy with various projects. It’s lonely not hearing from him.
That night, Haruka collapses into her bed. She wonders what he’s doing. She hears a sound. It sounds like a knock now. Finally she gets up to investigate and finds the sound coming from the veranda.
Cecil is out there. Haruka thinks it’s a dream. “Yes. This is not a dream. It is your beloved Aijima Cecil.” He continues by saying, “I have come to pick you up, my princess.” She’s confused. He apologizes for making her feel lonely. Haruka replies he couldn’t help it, it’s work. He hugs her. Cecil reminds her they’re not to hide anything from each other. She was lonely. They embrace more tightly and then kiss. They want to spend more time together. Cecil is going to take her on a date. But there’s nothing open at the hour, Haruka says. He asks for a yes or no response. It’s yes. He grabs her and jumps off the veranda. She’s scared and closes her eyes. He tells her to just believe. Now she opens her eyes. It’s…a carpet….!? Yep, it’s Cecil’s magic. Will she forgive him for using magic tonight? Haruka is amazed. They go for a flight. Over sideways and under on a magic carpet ride. A whole new worrrrld. The view is amazing. They admire the lights of the city. It’s like a sea of stars, it’s beautiful. Cecil replies she’s even more beautiful. He hugs her to keep her warm. He kisses her. Will she continue to wrap him in her love and music. Haruka says yes. Cecil is so happy. He wants to dedicate all of himself to her. His love, forever, to her. Haruka feels the same. He kisses her cheek and will take her to a world for just for the two of them. A world full of love.

“A whole new world!” LOL that was great!
Fun fact: there’s a set of Disney CDs where a bunch of famous seiyuu sing covers. Several UtaPri seiyuu are in them, and Masato’s sings “A Whole New World”.
