News – Recent Manga Licenses

Quite a few new titles have been announced for digital and/or physical releases. Let’s take a look!

Kodansha Comics USA

Fairy Tail: Ice Trail (Tale of Fairy Tail: Ice Trail~Koori no Kiseki) – MASHIMA Hiro & SHIRATO Yusuke
Noragami: Stray Stories (Noragami: Shuishu) – Adachitoka

Seven Seas

Battle Rabbits – AMEMIYA Yuki & ICHIHARA Yukino
I Was Abducted by an Elite All-Girls School as a Sample Commoner (Ore ga Ojou-sama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Rachirareta Ken) – NANATSUKI Takafumi & Risumai
Masamune-kun’s Revenge (Masamune-kun no Revenge) – TAKEOKA Hazuki & Viz

Viz Media

Chocolate Cosmos – HARUTA Nana [digital only]
CLAMP School Detectives – CLAMP [digital only]
Guardian Hearts – AMATSU Sae [digital only]
Rizelmine – SUGISAKI Yukiru [digital only]
Saber Marionette J – KOTOYOSHI Yumisuke [digital only]

More of Tokyopop’s older titles got rescued, but most important is the previously incomplete Guardian Hearts. Chocolate Cosmos is unusual for an English release due to it about student falling in love with her teacher. I remember it being used in a translation battle. Perhaps this is the first step towards Kisu Yori mo Hayaku (Faster Than a Kiss)? Kodansha USA’s releases are pretty self-explanatory, and josei fans get some love with Battle Rabbits.

What titles are you looking forward to?

I am hoping Samurai Deeper Kyo get’s rescued and continue on. I heard the series got discontinued from Tokyopop.

It was finished by Del Rey. So the most likely company to rescue it would be Kodansha USA. Can’t see them picking up a long, older series though.
