News – Kodansha Comics Weekend Wrap-Up

Kodansha Comics USA had some big news this weekend!

  • Their simulpubs are now available for purchase from ComiXology and Amazon.
  • Princess Jellyfish ended the shoujo/josei drought bestseller drought! Number three on the New York Times’ Manga Best Sellers list!
  • The next Vinland Saga omnibus will be published. I guess sales of volume seven were good. Let’s hope the series doesn’t go into permanent hiatus in English!
  • Akira will be getting a box set, and it will be published in unflopped format. All six volumes plus the art book in hardcover for MSRP $199.99.

So, did any of these announcements pique your interest? I am definitely keeping an eye on Akira. It may seem expensive, but that breaks down to $28.50 an item, which is in line with the current paperback versions ($24.99 to $29.99). Of course, I don’t plan on spending $200 on it. Deal shopping FTW!

Good to hear that Princess Jellyfish is performing well. I liked the anime adaptation.

It’s especially important since Kodansha Comics only licensed the first 12 volumes. Would hate for it to go into hiatus. If this keeps up, then the whole series will get a release! *crosses fingers*
