About:

This is the combined Vita port of the Uta no Prince-sama original fandisks. Like its predecessor, Amazing Aria & Sweet Serenade Love includes new scenarios and various gameplay upgrades and tweaks.

Like most of the series, AASS Love has three versions: game only, Amazing Sweet Love Box, and Premium Princess Box. The Amazing Sweet Love Box nets you a booklet and a CD. The Premium Princess Box adds a premium box, two CDs, pins, file with bromides, and a fabric poster. No first press bonus this time around though, although there’s the usual retailer-exclusives. Amazon Japan has a Mitsuo bromide, but you had to pay extra for it.

Thoughts:

The cover looks more like a group of hosts rather than musicians. I feel like “Welcome to Uta-Pri World!” should be playing when I look at it. Rin-chan looks so cute on it though! Would be neat to see him in guy mode in the future though. Meanwhile, Ryuya looks like he accidentally wandered in as the picture was taken. I wish Otoya had mirrored Mitsuo somehow. Tokiya looked so angry on Repeat LOVE‘s cover, and now he looks ready to be a ladykiller.

Oh, and I find it funny Haruka was kicked off the cover this time around.

I didn’t realize until I went to put it away that this set is larger than the first. You can see it in the pictures, but AASS is a little thinner but bigger in length and height. I hope Broccoli doesn’t keep changing the sizes, as they already don’t align right if you want to place these standing up on a shelf.

Its overall design is nice than Repeat Love though. The first game has basic yellow sides with the series tagline “You will find the music more beautiful than kiss” barely visible. This time, it’s like a cloudy pastel pattern with the motto clear as day. The color scheme is beautiful. I hope they go with soft combinations across the whole image instead of bright blue and yellow taking up so much space like in Repeat LOVE.

I still love the buttons. Again, they’re full size and not those 1″ mini types. I do want Quartet Night buttons. The senpai debut (heh) in Debut, but since they don’t have routes, I don’t know if Broccoli is planning on including them on the next Premium Princess Box merchandise. If STARISH has a pin set in every game, that’s going to be a lot of pins. At the same time though, the images have all been based on cover art, and will STARISH be on the cover of All Star and All Star After Secret? I guess it’s more likely than not, even though they take a back seat in those games.

Oh, and the pin box has the cover of the game instead of the Saotome Gakuen logo, and the box is much bigger this time around.

Why was there no first press bonus?! I loved the scorebook. I know Broccoli’s profits are taking a huge hit right now, but still very disappointing. It doesn’t make me want to rush out and preorder Debut. (Well, that and the fact that it’s Debut.)

There’s only one mini-magazine in the Amazing Sweet Love Box. You read one half of it, then you flip it around and there’s the other “book”. Trivia and info as usual along with some “ads”.

The file binder contains nine(?) blank pages, so you can add your own cards. I like the folder better than the lanyard in the previous set. The holder also has a clear slipcover for added protection.

New songs are included this time around. That is nice. “Jounetsu no Deja Vu Kiss” is also included on the CD in the Amazing Sweet Love Box. From what I read, was only included on the game OST before. The others were released as singles or on drama CDs. Nice way to round out fans’ collections, although I still wish Japan would take a note from the U.S. and do albums. Come on, the audition songs started being released in late 2009. Why can’t they start compiling them into albums?

Final Comments:

I said before I’d be in trouble if Broccoli released some nice special editions. Debut is the black sheep (*coughboyslovecough*) game of the series, so I’m hoping they have some really nice items included. Repeat Love Premium Princess Box can currently be had for around $77 shipped to U.S. (less with a good coupon), so I’m curious as to whether AASS will also drop. Because if so and there’s no first press bonus, I might just wait. Still will probably buy the deluxe version, but it’s less of priority. But if Amazing Aria Sweet Serenade Love doesn’t drop, then I’ll know Broccoli probably cut production.

All Star though, that’s another story. That will probably be a day one purchase, especially if there’s additional content for the two sensei.

When I wished upon a star for a harem of guys who were attached to me, I guess I should have been more specific…
