Game Diaries – Final Fantasy VII New Threat Arrange Episode XXX

Final Fantasy VII

If you don’t know what my Diaries are, please go here. Spoilers ahoy!

Otherwise, let’s go!

I forged Yuffie’s Conformer, so that meant some farming in the Cave. Fortunately, it wasn’t as bad as I feared. Worst part was trying to get a Behemoth Horn from King Behemoth to drop. The Movers were scary once or twice. Aerith’s Princess Guard applies Shield, and that comes in handy.

Fast forwarding, I cheated and learned that Barret’s fight is a party fight. Saves me the time of redoing the Materia.

A couple close calls. Status effects aren’t a problem, but some deadly attacks. I put Cloud in because Yuffie is just too deadly with Conformer to kick out, and he can cover all the bases as we work through the rest of the gang’s Limits.

Let’s get Cait’s over with.

Not going to lie — pretty funny enemy. But Yuffie’s busy trying to prove that she’s not the worst and/or most annoying character in the game by eating Cait Sith #1 for lunch. I also love the ending dialogue.

Vinnie up next.

Oh, yeah. Beating up Lucrecia. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Nice touch on making her look like Hojo.

I don’t think I ever explained those Oversoul Shards. I ended up farming for them in the Battle Arena, but it turns out that we get a bunch of free ones. With 9 Shards, a Ribbon, and a Yoshiyuki, you can make a Masamune. It’s an Auto-crit weapon for anyone, so it’s a good choice if you don’t want to worry about varying damage like with the ultimate weapons.

Nanaki.

You can see me hesitate about whether to reduce this to KOTR spam. Django has a lot of HP, and while Red’s stats do rise during the battle, he’s also not built to solo.

Cid has to be leader for his side quest, so he took Yuffie the Bomb and Aerith the Mage with him. First you have to talk to people in Rocket Town then head to Wall Market.

I kept thinking this would be worse than it actually was. Cid’s good in the regular game, and he’s good here in New Threat.

Funny scene with Cloud at Wall Market entrance. Seriously, did anybody blab about this to Cid and the others who joined later? Will some reporter someday come visit AVALANCHE and ask to share their journey?

Have to swing by Gongaga.

… And now we know why that other battle was so easy. Yuffie is seriously amazing.

It was only now I realized I still hadn’t gotten Ultima Weapon yet. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, Cloud doesn’t need to be in the party. Skipping all the other fights and the annoying bumping with the Highwind game. Although I think you can skip this if you use KOTR, but either I didn’t know that or forgot. Might not work here anyway.

Wasn’t expecting a Heartless Angel-like attack. Didn’t even pay attention to the amount of damage, so the awesome White Wind for 1 HP! Then I panicked and selected Regen again with Aerith instead of Cure3. *facepalm* Tifa was definitely the MVP. The battle should have been much easier if I had actually paid attention.

But look, ma, no deaths!
