Important Announcement: Follow-Up

Original post

My mother passed away peacefully today. She had decided to enter hospice instead of continuing to fight a losing battle. To say cancer is awful is an understatement. She fought as hard as she could for as long as possible.

Right now, it hurts like the dickens. Even though I knew it was coming, it hurts losing her. So much.

I have no ETA on my return.

Thank you for your patience and well wishes,
Krystallina

Important Announcement

Dear Readers,

My goal when Daiyamanga started was writing an article every 3-ish days. In large part thanks to COVID and shipping issues, that led to being more like once a week, and lately, more time is lapsing between posts. Plus, I’ve been more slow about reading and responding to others’ posts.

In recent times, this is in large part due to my mother going through some health issues. And unfortunately, we got some news that is far from ideal. Quite frankly, it stinks. My mother is very much a fighter, and she’s determined not to give up. 100% of my attention is focused on her.

I don’t know what the future has in store. I absolutely don’t plan on closing Daiyamanga or stop reading others’ posts, but right now, I can’t read or write at the pace I would like to. How long this will be, I don’t know. I may want to comment or write occasionally just as part of the new normal, or it may be impossible for a while. They say the future is a blank page, and I’ve never felt more like that’s true than I do right now.

Treasure every day.

Thank you for your understanding,
Krystallina

An Update

So it’s been a little over two weeks since my dear Washington passed away. Not gonna lie… it’s been rough. Habits I’ve developed over the past 11 years no longer have any meaning. Things I’ve grown accustomed to have disappeared. The unfulfilled plans. The unused birthday gifts. And, of course, the questions and regrets. His passing wasn’t sudden in the sense of an accident or anything, but no one expected that his time had come.

A Quick Note

I apologize for the sudden update, but unfortunately, my beloved dog Washington just suddenly passed away at the age of 12. So, sorry, but I’m going to be taking a short break for a few days from reading/commenting. I’ll probably pop back on here now and then, but I just won’t be able to concentrate much right now.

Thank you for understanding.

A Quick Note

I will be moving my blog to a new server. So if you see Daiyamanga down or otherwise not working in the next day or two, don’t worry! It should be back up soon. Unfortunately, this requires waiting on this which requires waiting on that, and much of this is new to me. Hopefully it will be back to 100% by Tuesday.

I have my backups of my blog ready to go, so if you Like/Comment before I post an update, it might not transfer over. I might also be too busy to view all your wonderful content, so again, you might not see me for a couple of days.

Three for KH3

Kingdom Hearts III

So I just got the Platinum trophy for Kingdom Hearts III. I have a lot of things to say. But how should I say them? I usually try to be spoiler-free or spoiler-light in my reviews, but how much should I reveal? What is a good balance between talking about the game and keeping it open for different audiences? Some people may not have played a Kingdom Hearts game before while others have played through all of them multiple times. I thought about using spoiler tags and headings, those aren’t always perfect. I mean, I got spoiled even though I was avoiding spoilers. Thanks a lot, jerks who decide to plaster ending images on their YouTube page.

Then it came to me. This is Kingdom Hearts III. Why not three reviews?

Okay, I say three reviews, but that’s a bit of a misnomer. Think of this as one review with a bunch of spoiler tags. They may not be exactly the same, but obviously my overall thoughts will be similar. I don’t expect everyone to read all three. Rather, please choose the one that best fits your comfort level.

Beginner Mode (aka spoiler-free review)

  • You’ve never played a KH game.
  • You’ve casually played one or two KH games a while back.
  • You just don’t want to be spoiled.

Standard Mode (aka minor spoilers review)

  • You’ve played several of the KH games.
  • You are playing KH3 or plan to in the near future.
  • You’ve watched the later or final trailers.

Proud Mode (aka spoileriffic review)

  • You’ve finished KH3, including seeing the secret ending.
  • You don’t care if the ending or anything else is spoiled.
  • You just want to freely talk about the game.

One post will go live over the next three days. So, I hope to see you in at least one of the posts!
