San Diego Comic-Con is over, and a few new manga licenses were announced, including a major shoujo classic.
Anime Expo was this weekend, and the manga publishers delivered a whole slew of announcements. Let’s take a look!
Walmart has a whole bunch of manga preorders heavily discounted (most 47-48% off) with free shipping! No minimum purchase required! You order several items at once, and they will all ship individually. Walmart accepts cash (pay in store within 48 hours), PayPal, and credit/debit cards.
I believe this covers most of the heavily discounted preorders. Note that some are due to be released real soon, so get your order in now before the free shipping disappears.
My pick is The Complete Chi’s Sweet Home, Part 1 for only $13.07. This omnibus contains three volumes in a larger trim with new bonus author comics!
Here’s a sample of some discounts on manga. Prices can fluctuate and coupons can sometimes suddenly be ended early, so make sure to confirm the prices before ordering!
Today’s highlights are the continuation of the Viz Media shoujo sale at Right Stuf and a whole slew of discounted titles (both new releases and preorders) at almost 50% off like Afterschool Charisma 10, Assassination Classroom 5, and Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches 3. There’s also a couple of bonus anime and merchandise deals today.
So half of 2015 is gone. (Whoa.) So let’s take a quick look back and another look forward! (more…)

ANN reports US licensed series The Seven Deadly Sins and Yowamushi Pedal tied for best shounen manga in the 39th Kodansha Manga Awards. The first series is simu-published by Crunchyroll, and Kodansha USA releases the print volumes. Yowamushi Pedal was recently acquired by Yen Press. The winners for best shoujo manga, general manga, and the special award are not licensed in the US.
I really like The Seven Deadly Sins. It’s a series that seems like it would be rather typical shounen fare, but it puts enough twists to make it fresh. I never paid much attention to Yowamushi Pedal until Yen Press announced their license and so many people were ecstatic. This news makes me more interested now.
